In anticipation of the pending Super Storm Sandy, the Hartford Volunteer Fire House (intersection of State Route 40 and State Route 149) will have the Community Room open as a shelter starting mid-afternoon Monday and going onwards as needed.
Widespread lingering power outages for Washington County are expected from the anticipated high winds and heavy rains.
The Fire House has a generator that comes on automatically during power failures. Even though the temperatures are above freezing, there may be issues for some who are reliant upon electricity for oxygen generation, etc.
